He graduated from Aberdeen University in 1993 with an MA Hons in Economics before joining Hargreaves Lansdown on their investment help desk. He worked his way up through the firm via the Marketing teams to start the set-up of the Vantage Investment Platform in the early 2000s. He left the largest investment platform in the UK with over £100bn in assets and c. 1.25million clients in June 2018, at which time he was Head of Vantage Development, in order to use his expertise to assist other firms and spend more time with his family.

He is an expert in the positioning and marketing of investments to individual investors, whilst focusing on the pricing of those products to ensure the most successful asset raising.
He has worked closely with product providers over the years through which he has an expert understanding of what is required to make investments a success in the UK market. He has an excellent network of senior individuals across platforms and product providers to ensure his expertise is unrivalled.
At Hargreaves Lansdown he was responsible for the negotiating of price to ensure Hargreaves lead the market versus its competitors, as well as which Ben was the no.1 deal maker in the market in terms of acquiring large closed books of businesses from both open and closed ended companies - e.g. Jupiter, BlackRock, JPM, RIT. As the first point of contact for external managers to deal with Hargreaves Lansdown, Ben also lead the way on the development of new products to ensure the best managers were accessed by clients at the best price.
